1 month old BF'ing ans sleeping at night question?

Gianna for the last 4 nights will eat at 10-11:30pm, then sleep through til about 5-5:30am. During the day she eats every 2-3 hours. I am BF'ing still.

Don't get me wrong, this is wonderful, I get some rem sleep, but I am worried she is still too little to not be waking up to eat during the night.

Should I be waking her up to eat during the night? I know with bf'ing I shouldn't let her go more than 4 hours at night, but does that go forever? What should I do?

Heck NO! Enjoy the sleep missy! You're one lucky momma... the rule at this point is to never wake a sleeping baby. As long as she continues to have plenty of wet/poopy diapers, she's fine. She's just starting to learn the difference between day and night (it took mine close to 7 months to make that discovery! Chat Icon ). Consider yourself VERY lucky!

Gracie is the same exact way. I called the pediatrician about it because I was concerned as well. The pediatrican told me to enjoy the extra sleep. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

She also said that if BF babies feed a lot during the afternoon/evening then during the middle of the night they will not need to feed as much.

The whole four hour thing is just for the first month, after that they can sleep through the night if they want to.

You should sell whatever gene it is that you gave to Gianna and buy yourself a private island.

Unless she hasn't been gaining enough weight according to your pediatrician, feel very lucky and let her sleep!

Thank you so much! I am soo worried she is not getting enough to eat. Everyone except my DH-who is soo supportive of my BF-wants me to give her a bottle! I battle my mom everyday! Anyways, I will let her sleep, and consider myself lucky!

I hear ya on the family pushing the bottle thing. MIL was like "she ALWAYS seems hungry" all week long last week. I pumped out a bottle for her to feed DD with and that kept her quiet. I think that my MIL wanted to feed her. UMMMM, why can't you just ask me to pump out a bottle so you can feed your granddaughter??? I don't get it. Chat Icon
