How early did you let your baby watch tv?
I've always said before i had my daughter, "oh, my kids wont need to watch tv. I want them to be active and not sit in front of the television all day" .... But now that i have my daughter... I wonder if its not so bad. What they have for videos the childrens age can educate them in some ways. whats ur opinon?

I have let Bella watch 15 min of Baby Einstein a day. Some days she doesn't watch it at all. I started when she was 3mts. She is now 4 mts. I don't think it's a bad thing. Especially since I am nurotic about her watching it that I sit with her and lable what she sees.

Re: How early did you let your baby watch tv?
My 4 year old has learned so much from tv. I am an advocate! My 1 year old loves Baby Neptune from the Baby Einstein collection. Those are great (but not Baby Einstein...sooooooooo boring). My 4 year old watches Pinky Dinky Doo and they teach large vocabulary words. He told me his baby brother was "frustrated" because he can't talk yet!! I was very impressed.
My 1 year old watches what my 4 year old watches but he seems to enjoy it. He claps his hands to Laurie Berkner's singing. He laughs with Blue's Clues. I see no harm. (AND, I am an early childhood teacher)
As long as what your child is watching is age appropriate, I see no harm. There are so many great educational programs on Noggin and Nick, Jr.

I agree! Jack is 20 months and is starting to repeat words he learns on Noggin!

Katie is only 2 mos old but I put Baby Einstein on for her sometimes (maybe 1-2x a week) and she watches it for about 10-15 mins and then loses interest. But in those 10-15 mins I can shower, shave my legs, get dressed and do my makeup...so it's worth it!

She started at 6 weeks, for me it was the only way to shower.

I'd say about 2-3 months. I love Noggin and since it's educational I don't mind it. My son WILL NOT have a TV in his room though. I am a firm believer in that.

About 4 months I think but no more than an Einstein video. Probably around 6 months I would let her watch a little bit of a show on Noggin. She really isn't that interested in TV and I try not to promote it.

Re: How early did you let your baby watch tv?
Jacob has been watching Noggin now since about 3 months old. Baby Einstein i tried when he was like 1-2 months old but he lost interest fast. I like all the educational shows on Noggin and he really likes them. He prob watches T.V for a total of 2 hrs between 7am and noon. I get to shower, and tidy up a bit, and since they are so educational, I dont see the harm.
