BF'ing moms-How much do you eat?
I know this sounds wierd, but I have no idea how much to eat.
I already lost about 20-25lbs since Gianna's birth, but now I am STARVING all day long, I keep snacking-having mini meals, but I don't want to eat too much or too little.
I gained about 45lbs during my pg, so I do have some fat to spare , but i don't wanna jeopardize my milk supply by not eating enough.

I ate A LOT. I mean, a GIGANTIC amount of food and I still continued to lose weight all while BFing... go with your body - if you're hungry, EAT. If you're concerned about gaining, try eating as healthy as possible, though, I noticed, while I was BFing, I got the worst bad food cravings...

I ate alot of small meals...it was the only way to keep my energy up...and by eating 5 to 6 small meals rather than 3 big meals you lower the risk of gaining weight.

Re: BF'ing moms-How much do you eat?
As long as I was EBFing Jesse, I could eat and still lose weight. Once he started eating solids and nursing less, I wasn't losing weight anymore but I was still starving all the time. I put his needs first and figured I would lose the rest of the weight when he was done with BF. That time has come and I am joining a gym. My supply was always sufficient for him.
Eat when you're hungry but try to eat healthy if you're concerned about weight.

I ate when I was hungry too.
Make sure you stop eating like that when you stop breastfeeding. I didn't & have 20lbs to show for it.

Re: BF'ing moms-How much do you eat?
My weight loss kinda halted.
When did the "fat" storage come off for you guys? The extra weight you gained after the extra blood volume, water, etc of pg.
All I am asking is that I fit into my "big" shorts this summer so i am not soo miserable.

Re: BF'ing moms-How much do you eat?
I lost the baby weight by about six months - about the time Jesse started eating more solids. So, I also started to put weight back on at that time and now I've got ten pounds to lose again. So, to answer your question, for me it was about six months.

I lost a lot of weight in the beginning of BF, but now its slowly coming off. I work out, but I'm hungry all the time and sooo thirsty and can't stop snacking. I'm starting to wean Julia now little by little, so hopefully the extra 10 lbs I need to loose will come off faster.

Re: BF'ing moms-How much do you eat?
too much!! i lost weight in the first couple of weeks, but since then my weight loss has pretty much stopped. i started watching what i was eating a few weeks ago, but it only lasted a few days because i started worrying that my milk supply was decreasing. i'm thinking of trying weight watchers nursing moms program. pretty much you get an extra 10 points a day. i've done ww in the past and liked it, but now i just have to get motivated again. i think think the nursing moms program is good because it gives you a guideline for how much you should be eating. i think i read you need an extra 300-500 calories a day when BFing, but I don't think I'm eating the right amount of calories to begin with. supposedly if you're losing more than a pound a week it's too much and you could hurt your milk supply. fortunately that hasn't been a problem for me!

This is what I heard too. I lost 3 lbs last week. I have another 20 to go, but after all that I have been through and have gotten over with BF'ing, I dont' want to throw it all away by not eating enough!

I feel exactly the same way! It was a lot of work to get to this point and I'm so glad I did it. I guess I'd rather be fat and continue BFing! Hopefully if I stop eating like a little piggy it will slowly come off!

Re: BF'ing moms-How much do you eat?
I have been eating 6-7 small meals a day and drinking a ton of water. I got out my old weight watchers books and BF'ing moms get TONS of points. I would get 34 points a day plus the 35 flex each week because I am BF'ing. When I started WW before I got PG, I would only get 24 points a day.
Yesterday I went to my OB for my incision check and he said we would discuss weight loss at my 6 week PP check up. For now, he told me to eat when I was hungry and make healthy choices. As soon as I get the OK, I am joining WW again. I only gained around 40 lbs. with my DD, but I want it off ASAP!

I nurse and eat like I normally do... Breakfast 1st thing in the morning, morning snack, lunch, afternoon snack - dinner...
I always ate healthy anyway (no fast foods - take out, sodas, pastries, fried foods, junk, etc) and am back in my pre pregnancy clothes
