Cruise/Activities Help
Mom and I are going on a cruise in July to the Keys and Cozymel. She really wants to do some swimming with the dolphins thing in Mexico. Has anyone ever done this?? I want to book it for us, but don't know if I should do it through the travel agency, try and do it on my own or wait til we get there to purchase tickets or whatever to do it. Any suggestions??

Re: Cruise/Activities Help
If you go onto the cruise's website there should be a way to get to the excursions that are offered. I would personally book it through the cruiseline because at least you know it's with a reliable company and you don't have to worry when you get there about trying to find somewhere to do it.

Re: Cruise/Activities Help
i agree...The cruise should have a long list of tours you can book... See if that is one of them
If not then look elsewhere

Totally agree! Most cruiselines now let you book excursions before-hand on line.
Hubby and I used to do a lot of our tours independently, but after the bus accident in Chile - I think we are going to think twice about it!

Re: Cruise/Activities Help
In the past I have booked the excursions through the cruiseline. For my next cruise, I have been going on a website called cruisecritic.com that has message boards. On the message board, you can go to Roll Call and actually talk to people taking your cruise. Lots of people on there plan group excursions, arrange group transportation, etc and save a lot of $$$. Maybe you can check it out!

Re: Cruise/Activities Help
Thanks girls...I just talked to my mom, we're not going to do the dolphin thing...sounds like a bit of a rip off, to which I'll probably be too affraid to get in the water with them anyway. I think we are just going to head out on a shopping excursion and sightseeing tour and then we'll go have dinner somewhere nice. I am sure there will be plenty of other stuff to see and do!! Thanks!!
Thanks for that sight Julz!!

Re: Cruise/Activities Help
I went on a cruise and we went on a dolphin excursion. We were afraid to swim with them but we got in the water with them and pet them- it was great!
I find on cruises that some excursions, like the shopping ones, are a waste because you can do all that stuff on your own. But any excursion where you travel or go out on the water I would only book through the cruiseline to guarantee safety and that we would make it back on time.

Re: Cruise/Activities Help
We went on a Royal Caribbean cruise and swam with the dolphins in Curacao through a cruise excursion. It was AMAZING and one of the coolest things we have ever done. We also swam with sting rays in Antigua but that was not nearly as incredible.
On Royal Caribbean, you can sign up for excursions via the website prior to your cruise or onboard once you get there.
