Toys for a 1 year old boy
Since I went nuts on e-bay selling all of Jared's old "baby" toys, he needs new toys that are age appropriate.
I was wondering if any moms have some recommendations? What's good and what's not so good?
TIA!!

Re: Toys for a 1 year old boy
Nate is not really big on toys right now.... He would much rather play with the remote or the tupperware lid. We didn't go crazy on toys for his b-day, people just gave money to put in savings for him.
Right now, he is in love with a plastic dump truck that my friend gave him. He pushes it around the living room and like to "dump" his legos out. He also likes these large lego pieces, he can't quite fit them together yet but he tries.
He got a bunch of FP stuff for xmas.....that he likes to play with on occassion. FP Laugh & Learn Learning home
FP Laugh & Learn Learning Table
Laugh & Learn Stride-to-Ride Learning Walker

We just bought that Stride-to-Ride walker at BRU this weekend and Emily loves it even though she hasn't figured out how to use it yet.
It is so cool beacuse it gives the baby words for everything "like key -- vroom vroom, turning left, turning right, push, pull" it is very cool.

Re: Toys for a 1 year old boy
blocks blocks and more blocks!
we have the big lego type blocks - FP lego type blocks - the FP blocks with things inside - alpha blocks!
He loves them - throwing them - destroying mom's towers - he can stack 2 blocks too!
He also loves balls. I have a blow up beach ball, a soft plush ball, a soccer ball (that he plays tug of war with with the dog and can lift it and throw it over his head - so strength training ) - a ball you get in the supermarket and my exercise ball are all out in his play area...He loves them all

Ditto this.
Jake got a bunch of big soft block for his birthday as well as the big clunky leggos and they are great. I also read in a parenting magazine that balls and blocks are the two best developmental toys.

Re: Toys for a 1 year old boy
Blocks are definitely great! My oldest son got the Lego Quatro blocks for his 1st and STILL plays with them! We have every peek-a-block imaginable, alphabet blocks and 10 HUGE soft blocks from Gymboree. The boys play with all of them.
Kevin has the Learning Home and is just starting to really play w/ it (he's 11 months). He loves opening and closing the door! I may have to look into that walker for him. It's about the only thing we *don't* have.
On another note: how did you do selling toys on Ebay? I have 2 huge bags full of "baby" toys... can't believe my baby has outgrown them already.

Re: Toys for a 1 year old boy
I've actually done really well with e-bay. That must be a popular thing to sell/buy on e-bay because I get a ton of people that bid on his toys. Designer baby clothing goes for a lot too.
I'm going to look into those blocks. I have a Kay-Bee Toy Store GC that has 80 dollars on it.
