Anyone starting to notice housing prices coming down?
Not by much...but I am noticing the prices drop a little....could just be the change in season too. Ahhh who knows.

Ditto! Although we bought in Rockland county, the prices coming down made all the difference! I work in the title industry and I am seeing it all over. Prices are down anywhere from 5-10% depending on the area. Plus, as the feds raise the mortgage rates historically the prices have gone down.

Prices have come down a bit. But interest rates have also jumped up close to an entire percentage point.
If prices countinue to drop... maybe i'll think about filing for a tax greivance.

Re: Anyone starting to notice housing prices coming down?
I've noticed it in the areas we're looking in as well. Actually, what I've noticed is that houses that are overpriced for the area are sitting longer and thus the HO's have to reduce the asking price.

But they're still incredibly low in comparison to what they were 5-10 years ago. The way I see it - you can always refinance for a lower rate...

you will definitely see prices dropping or at least leveling during the "slow" season.

Re: Anyone starting to notice housing prices coming down?
I also think they were just overpriced.
a house I drive by on my way home was listed at $650K on a busy street. well they have lowered it to about $550K...sounds drastic, but the truth is, a similar house sold for $425K 2 years ago, and not on a busy street.
people were listing with steady increases, but buyers aren't buying at the same rate.

well that is everywhere....and now just a part of life
we will never see them that low again
And i am sure 5 years before that people thought that 425K was disgustingly high

Re: Anyone starting to notice housing prices coming down?
I talked to my friend whose a real estate person. She said that every 5 yrs they have a lull in business. Aside from that she said that when these mansions were being built 5 or 10 yrs ago, people took out interest only loans and now that it is time to pay, the homeowners are having hardships.
