Re: Repost- endometriosis

I have endo as well, I had surgery in February to have it removed. That helped the pain a lot for the 6 months after that and I've now moved on to IUI to try to get pregnant since it wasn't working naturally. My mom had severe endo and was able to have 2 children naturally so that should be a good sign! Especially since medicine has advanced so much in 30 years!

I was found to have endo 3 years ago when I had an operation for uterine fibroids. The endo was removed but I probably have it again. It is all guesswork, until your doctor actually sees it during a surgical procedure. I have no idea yet, as to whether I can get pregnant. I'm off the pill, but in many ways I am not formally "trying." But I do know of people who had babies after being diagnosed with endo, even severe endo.

I just had Lapro 3 months ago, and I wasn't and still am not trying. Do you think I would have a better chance of becoming PG if I start trying now right after my surgery, or it's ok if I wait? I was going to start offically trying sometime next spring/sumer. I'm actually going to be asking my doctor this question at my appt. next week, but do you have any thoughts?

Re: Repost- endometriosis

I was told that you are most fertilie right after your surgery, but I tried for the 7 months immediately after and was still not able to get pregnant. If you are back on the pill then you could wait to try until next spring, but if you are not on the pill the endo comes back after a couple of months and then you're back to square 1. It seems to take much longer to get pregnant with endo so I would recommend starting next spring instead of next summer. I'm just telling you from my personal experience I really wished I had started trying sooner.

I had a lap for endo in my early 20's and was warned repeatedly that I could have trouble conceiving. As per my Dr.'s instructions I stayed on the pill right up until I wanted to get pregnant. I was able to conceive immediately after I went off the pill. I was shocked and thrilled -- it can happen. Good luck!

Re: Repost- endometriosis

Thanks for the insight! Well I went to the Dr. today and he said that I should start now and not wait. He said that it will be alot harder to concieve if I wait till next spring or summer like I wanted too. I guess I have big decisions to make now. This is sooo frustrating! Chat Icon

Re: Repost- endometriosis

I had severe endometriosis, and I'm pregnant. Endo can prevent a successful pregnancy but there are many ways to remove it. I had a laparoscopy (basically they burn it off) and I got PG the next month. You are most fertile right after removal because the endo can come back fairly quickly.

Re: Repost- endometriosis

Wow PG the next month! I know it can come back quickly, that's why I'm so frustrated! I don't want to lose or ruin my chances. I didn't even know if I could get PG or not before my Lapro, cuz we weren't even trying. I know the chances were slim though. Your success does give me hope! thanks! I might just be joining the TTC board quicker than I thought.

Re: Repost- endometriosis

A friend of mine had some endo removed but they couldn't get it all, and she also got pregnant. Don't get me wrong, it took us a LONG time to get to this point, we had both been TTC for almost 2 years. I also think the fact that she and I both had an HSG helped as well as they say it helps fertility by cleaning out your tubes and invigorating the cilia to move the sperm along.
