Interview tomorrow! Quick question!!

I have an interview tomrorow...it's at a school...for a teaching position...yay!! =) Do you think I defintiely need to wear a suit?? It's going to be so hot! Or do you think I should wear a skirt and a nice shirt? I'm leaning toward a suit, but I am wondering what everyone else thinks! TIA Chat Icon

I'd always say suit... you'll only be in it for such a short time its worth it to impress even if you are hot..

Re: Interview tomorrow! Quick question!!

I have to disagree. If you are uncomfortable in the interview it will show. A skirt suit would be appropriate, carry the jacket and wear a short sleeved shirt.

Unfortunately you will have to wear hose.

i totally agree.

any other day i would say suit all the way - but when temperatures are 100+ - i am sure the interviewer will totally understand.

Re: Interview tomorrow! Quick question!!

Definately a suit. This is your only time to really impress. I interviewed in Texas in August when the weather is like this almost everyday and I wore a suit. Oh, did I mention my car had no airconditioning? It su cks!! But you have to play the part.

It sounds stupid, but that could be something that costs you the job. If you interview as well as the next person, but that person is wearing a suit and you are not, the employer might think that they take themselves more seriously than you do.

Every little thing counts.

Re: Interview tomorrow! Quick question!!

if you're interviewing at the school, the main office and the principal's office usually have A/C.

I would definitely wear a suit!

I would suggest a suit. Just don't put on the jacket until you get there.

Re: Interview tomorrow! Quick question!!

I say suit no question. In my district our Superintendent has cancelled interviews depending on how the candidate was dressed. My colleague was at our district office and witnessed this at the end of the school year. the poor guy lost the interview because he didn't have a suit jacket on. I hope your not interviewing in my district. If I wouldn't lose so much money I'd go work somewhere else teaching.

Re: Interview tomorrow! Quick question!!

I'm sorry - unless you're interviewing at a law firm or something like that, I don't think a suit is needed....I have interviewed at extremely corporate places and have always gotten the job and I have never bought a suit in my life.

I think you can look very polished in a nice pair of pants and a shirt with conservative accessories.....I think if someone cancels an interview b/c you aren't wearing a suit, then there is another issue at hand altogether....it's all about how you carry yourself.

I really disagree....teaching jobs are hard to come by and how you look can make or break it IMO
