I'm obsessed! Tell me what you think.
OK. I've become obsessed with how to paint the living/dining room, bedroom and bathroom. I think (and I read this too) that the paint in a room makes such a huge statement and that the rest of the room will fall together after that. That people love to walk into an interestingly painted room, but most are just too nervous to paint it that way themselves. So I've become an absolute BH&G and HGTV nut looking for interesting ideas, driving my husband crazy while he asks, "Why can't we just paint it like normal people?" Do you think I'm a little too into this and that it really doesn't matter, or that it's worth the time to have a fun/different house? And don't say whatever makes you happy, cause I'm interested in knowing what everyone else likes to see in there place and other's places. TIA!

I am the same way!! I moved into my house two years ago and it had that silky colonial style wallpaper EVERYWHERE. After I spent the better part of six months using DIF-which ***** by the way-we bought a wallpaper steamer. Needless to say after the walls were a mess. So I went online to look for treatments to hide the walls. I ended up doing the whole bottom floor-living room and hallway with venetian plaster by McClosky-bought at Aboffs. The nice thing about this is they can tint it for you with any of the Benjamin Moore colors, they also store your colors in their computer which I love. This is a time consuming process but it looks unbelieveable! Everyone comments on it and wants to know how I did it. In my bathroom I did a two paint blending treatment. I used a warm peachy yellow combined with a burgundy and that looks pretty cool. I did it over Ralph Lauren sand paint which I had painted originally and then got sick of. Also on my LR wall I did brown paper bag which looks like leather when you are done and people also always comment on that.

Re: I'm obsessed! Tell me what you think.
I painted the living room a light green (lighter than I thought actually) and one accent wall a little darker. I have lots of furniture and decorations I have picked up travelling, so I want them to be the focal points, not the walls. I have framed artwork from China, S. Africa and Egypt - I don't want the paint to compete with my decorations, just serve as a backdrop....

That sounds awesome! Do you have pictures of these treatments?

I just wanted to mention-my stuff is very eclectic and kind of ethnic I guess you would call it. If you are looking for a more classic look you could pick a paint color you like. Get flat and also a semi or high gloss. Paint the whole wall with flat then tape off stripes and pint the gloss in the stripes. It looks really cool.

That's exactly what I was thinking of doing in the bedroom! I found it on the Benjamin Moore website. It would be a much lighter blue than this though, but this was the pic they had up (I can't get it to post). Did you do this? Do you have a picture?

I haven't done it but my friends mom has it in her bathroom and I think it would be relatively easy with a chalk line?
