Anyone hear of the Hither House in Montauk?
Have you stayed there? and how far is it to the beach? TIA.

Hither House is on Montauk Highway (the road that bears left right after Amagansett) which means that it's at least five blocks from the ocean. It's also before the village, so you would have about a mile's walk/drive into the village.
Otherwise, if you are looking for a secluded, quiet spot to stay it's perfect. The rooms are nice and they have private cottages also. A friend of mine stayed there a few years ago in the off season and really liked it.

yup my sister went there about 5 years ago with her boyfriend they stayed in one of the cottages and totally hated it - she said it was cold and the place was dirty - they had it booked for a week and left the first day and the place billed them for the whole week !
the excuse - it was slow season and they couldnt rerent the place!

Yes I read all of the trip advisor and its split- either people hated it or liked it?
I need a place where we can rent a cottage and bring our dogs.
any suggestions? TIA.

When are you going? If it's off season, you might not have a problem with the dogs...in season, you are going to be very limited.
