wierd question..

Today someone asked me if my son's head always is tilted to one side. My son is two months old and his head does normally tilt to the right. Is this normal. She said that it wasn't and if it presisits i should go to the doctor... can anyone please tell me if this is true. Thanks

I can't answer your question, but you should post this on the parenting board where you will get more answers

Re: wierd question..

My son does this and I didn't notice it until his 4 month well visit to the doctor Chat Icon . My ped. said to massage his neck with lotion to loosen up the muscle because it could potentially be harmfull. At your next visit I would inform your doctor about this. I have been massaging his neck every night, which is difficult because he does squirm so much and I also use to feed him with my left arm holding him and his right arm would be behind my back so his neck would tilt to the left so I now I hold him on my right arm also.

Re: wierd question..

My cousin's daughter had this. She needed to bring her to a physical therapist and also massage it daily. Unfortunately I don't remember the cause or the name of this situation. But she did need to address it to avoid future issues.

Could be Torticollis, which is treatable by Physical Therapy... It is not usually a big deal though.

Re: wierd question..

I also posted on the Parenting board, but I would like to add that torticollis IS a big deal. I'm sorry, but if your baby has to go through physical therapy and possibly have limited mobility for the rest of their lives, that's a big deal. No offense to anyone, but I don't want any parent to think it's not a big deal and wait on getting treatmentChat Icon

I want to add that my dr. said that if I didn't address this issue and just left it that he could develope a hematoma from it.
