Grrrrrrr! My doctor wants me to come in for a blood test to check my TSH levels!

I had thyroid problems in the past about 2 years ago- where my TSH levels were a little bit too high and after all these rare blood test and the radioactive iodine scan and uptake the endocronologist said its normal, just a tad below hypo- ???? But what ever that iodine thing did it zapped it back to normal- didnt need any meds and finally started to loose weight! My body was reacting as if I had hyphO and blood work showed hypER- so now that they know Im TTC they want me in asap for bloodwork!
Is it very bad if your thyroid IS out of whack, for TTC?
I guess I will find out. I have to call today.

I have no info for you. I'm going through a similar situation and my doctor didn't suggest I get my thyroid checked but a family member who is a retired N.P. said she has a hunch that I should. She's very intuitive.

One other thing to consider... test results can vary. One battery of tests on a particular day could vary somewhat on another day.

I know it's a pain in the A $ $ but maybe it will give them more info.

I have what's called graves disease. Graves disease causes hyperthyroidism. Unfortunately, the thyroid is one of the most critical glands when ttc. You most definitely need to have it under control when TTC., or you may miscarry. Just a little above or below what the lab considers normal, is not 'normal' when ttc. Make sure you get your t3, t4, and tsh tested. If you tsh is .4-2.5 that is a good level for TTC. When your thyroid has problems, other hormones are affected especially estrogen/progesterone. If you need any info on this, just forum mail me, I have tons of websites on thyroid issues/ttc.
