Get a second car seat or a base.

Re: any one wihrt a two door car.. i have a question about car seats
I have a 4 dr (camry) and I beleive it's the law that the car seat be in the middle. I have a terrible time getting it in and out of the car...I have no upper arm strength and as she gets heavier....the harder it gets. I'm at the point of taking only her out of the car seat instead of the whole contraption

I wouldn't even want to think about getting an infant carrier in and out of a 2 door. Sorry. Let DH try it a few times before the baby comes, maybe that will help change his mind.

Re: any one wihrt a two door car.. i have a question about car seats
My FIL keeps the extra base in his 2 door car and I've used it before when we were using my car to move over furniture. It is a royal PITA! Definately not something I'd want to do on a regular basis!!

I actually find it easier in my 2dr grand am than in my husband's 4dr mazda.

Re: any one wihrt a two door car.. i have a question about car seats
I have some friends who have just gone from 2 door cars to 4 door cars and they both have said that although they thought the 4 door would be easier with the car seat, its actually more difficult.

Re: any one wihrt a two door car.. i have a question about car seats
DH's car is a 2 door and if you have an extra base, it was really no problem with the infant carrier. The problem was anyone sitting in the passenger seat (he couldn't have the seat behind him since he is too tall). So we rarely use his car as a family.
When DS switched to the convertable seat, it has proven to be much more difficult for DH (who drops off and piskcs up DS 2 x a week). I have done it once in the car and I had to get in the back seat, pull him out, sit him down behind me, squirm out and then lift him out. I don't know how DH does it since he is much taller.
So maybe that is when your DH will be ready to trade in.
