Getting rid of mold

I just noticed this morning that there is a little bit of black mold growing on the ceiling of the bathroom. How do I get rid of this? Thanks.

Ditto!

Paint also retards mold... some people worry that it only covers it up, but it does kill it

I would do this and then repaint.
Also...proper ventilating in the bathroom will help the mold problem. Its really common to get mold in bathrooms with all the moisture in there from showers, etc. If you have a vent/fan leave that on for a while after you get out of the shower and also if you have a window, you can leave that open a bit to let all the humid air out.

Re: Getting rid of mold

We had a horrible mold problem in the condo we used to live in. Diluted bleach will kill it and then we bought a special paint form Home Depot specially made for thi sproblem and it never came back.

Re: Getting rid of mold

if it keeps coming back, you may want to check into the source, it could be a leak fo some type too...and if there is mold behind the walls, etc - it can be straight out dangerous for your own health....
(when we did construction, i read up on mold and was like a crazy woman searchign for mold with the guys when they tore stuff down.....we were lucky not to have any....but apparently it can be bad...)

Re: Getting rid of mold

Thanks everyone. I will try the bleach and see how it goes. We rent a basement apartment so if it keeps coming back, we may need to let the landlords know about it. This is the first I have noticed it in the 2 years we are here so I am sure it is a buildup of all the moisture in the bathrrom (no windows for ventilation).
