NJ ticket...LOL
I got a ticket for making a left turn in NJ last weekend. Apparently you have to make a right in jughandle turns to make a left. The ticket is 140. Do you know how many phone calls I received this week from lawyers wanting to fight this ticket. Today I got a letter from another law firm wanting to fight my ticket. Ive never seen this in NY...we are just GUILTY. Its so my fault but now I am feeling so innocent from all these phone calls. I think its funny that they would want to represent me for 140 dollar ticket.

That's great that you might be able to get out of it - so are you going to try and fight it? It stinks that there are so many state laws that you have to be familiar with before driving in that state. It's almost like you need to read the state's DMV book before driving there. (Like in NY with the cell phone law - if you didn't know that you could be ticketed.)

How did they get your personal info to solicit you? I think that would annoy me more than getting the ticket

the first sentance in the letter reads all tickets are3 public information and this is how we retrieved your ticket. They even mention what corner and what I did.

Don't do it- you're going to waste your money.
Even if your lawyer gets it lowered, you will still have to pay court costs, which start at $100.
I actually wasnt thinking of doing it. I cant believe NJ lawyers want to represent such a small case. If I were to fight it, I would go on my own. But seriously, for 140 coming from Eastern Long Island, its not worth it with tolls and gas.

Re: NJ ticket...LOL
The same thing happened to us when we got a ticket in NC. The ticket was one of those must appear in court ones, no matter what (according to the D.A.'s office). Wouldn't you know that a couple of days later we were bombarded with solicitations from lawyers. We ended up retaining one since it would still be less expensive then going to NC for 2 days to take care of the freaking thing. Surprise surprise, the ticket was waived prior to the court date and we only had to pay the lawyer.

Just out of curiosity...is the lawyer less then 140? If not or if its close...it really wouldnt be worth it. I dont have to show up to court. I can pay online
