first things to do???

Okay so I plan on calling the OB/GYN tommorrow to tell him I have a BFP...what is the next few things that happen from there?
Does he do a preg test as well or does he go straight to a sono? ALso when is the first sono done?
Last week I had a sono done on my abdomen/pelic area due to bladder issues (non Preg related) Did this do any damage being that I didnt know? SOrry for all these questions. TIA

Congrats!

You'll find that every doctor handles it differently, many won't see you until you are 8 or so weeks along.

Your doctor will most likely do a blood test to confirm the results of your POAS test.

First sono depends on your doctor, mine was at 10 weeks. Last week's sonogram won't hurt your baby it's sound waves, not anything harmful like xrays or anything.

One thing you may want to ask about when call is prenatal vitamins if you're not on them already.

Congrats again!

I just got my BFP too. Congrats!!!! Chat Icon

I haven't seen the doctor yet, the nurse did confirm with a beta and checked my progesterone levels too. Other than that I got a prescription for prenatals (I was taking OTC ones for a few months now.) He said that he normally wouldn't do the first sono until 7 or 8 weeks, but since I'm high risk for ectopic so I'm going in next Thursday at 5 1/2 weeks to make sure everything is where it should be!!!

Good luck!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: first things to do???

I went in right away for a regular pg test and exam. The pg test came back very light so they wanted me in at 7 weeks for a sonogram to see a heartbeat. I never got bloodwork done at my doctors office (?) until they did all of the major stuff. Then I started going in for the usual 4 week check ups after that. Not another sonogram until 20 weeks and that may have been the last. Good luck.

Re: first things to do???

I went in at (what I thought was) six weeks. I wasn't as far along as I thought, being that I must have ovulated late or something, and have to go back today.

I still haven't had any blood work done. sorry, I guess I can't be much help.

He did put me on prenatal vitamins, though, and, I'm sure you know...no drinking Chat Icon
