Helpful Toddler Toothbrushing Tip
Something I got from Parenting magazine that's worked like a charm for me...
After they are done brushing their teeth, I check if the job is done right. Then use their toothbrush and hunt in their mouths for anyone that might be making cavities (from Barney to the Green Goblin). Together we try to brush them out.

Re: Helpful Toddler Toothbrushing Tip
I will have to try this. My son is only 2, so he doesn't brush his teeth very well. When I try to help him he hates it and pulls away. Anyone else have any tips?

Patrick has a Sponge Bob electric toothbrush which he loves. (Not that he does an amazing job on his teeth.) When he had a plain toothbrush he wasn't to interested.

My middle son has that one and loves it. But with all my kids, they have their turns brushing, and then Mommy has her turn

Barbara, so funny that this came up as a related post....
last few weeks Aidan would not let me in his mouth to brush after he does.
I used your advice about getting the monsters out and it works like a charm he lets me in no problem!

Re: Helpful Toddler Toothbrushing Tip
I started brushing Emily's TOOTH this week. Yes, her one LONE tooth. DH thinks I'm crazy but I don't want her to think that brushing her teeth is a strange and uncomfortable thing at 2 years old.
I sing the Brusha Brusha song from Grease the movie. Except I make up my own version and get all silly about it -- and she cracks up laughing and loves it.
Brusha Brusha Brusha Brush my Emme's Toothie Brusha Brusha Brusha Let's get your toothie clean!
She's amused by it so so far it's working!
