Traveling in the 2nd trimester??
My doctor gave me the green light, but I am nervous. We are going to Hawaii to visit SIL, and have a vacation before the baby comes. Has anyone traveled on a long flight while pregnant? I did make sure my DH booked an aisle seat for me for potty breaks Any other suggestions? I am not a great flyer to begin with, so what can I do to calm my nerves? TIA

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester??
My doc told me that I need to take alot of stretch breaks. Get up and walk around often. Also you MUST MUST MUST hydrate yourself. I mean bring the gallon of water with you!
You do not want to get dehydrated. That will end up with a trip to the hospital
Also bring a portable DVD player and bring lots of movies. That will help make the flight more bearable as well.

I didn't take that long a flight, but I brought along those Sea Bands (the motion sickness bracelets). Good thing I did, that was the only time I was nauseus the whole time I was pregnant with Sarah.

I only flew to Florida in the 2nd trimester. Only a 2.5 hour flight.

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester??
I flew right up until 32 weeks back and forth from NY to TX- 3 1/2 hr flight. No where near going to Hawaii, but still travel. My suggestion, is be sure the day before and day of drink plenty of water. More than you normally would, because air travel can cause dehydration problems. Yes, have an aisle seat so you can visit the potty many times during the trip. Even if you don't have to pee, get up and stand in the aisle every hour on the hour to stretch your legs for a few minutes. You don't want any problems with blood clots or even just basic leg cramps. Make sure to bring your own bottle water on board for the plane ride, drink, drink, drink... Have a safe trip

Re: Traveling in the 2nd trimester??
Not as long as Hawaii but we did the 4 hour flight from CO to NY when I was 29 weeks. Be prepared for massive foot swelling. Drink tons of water too. Otherwise not too bad.
