Prune Juice
My ped called this morning and since Katie is constipated, now I have to give her 1 tsp. of prune juice in her bottle 2-3x per day.
Anyone have any experience with prune juice they could share with me?
(Also put her back on Zantac since she had a bad reaction to Axid.)

We tried water, it didn't work It's so frustrating. I'm a little hesitant with the prune juice but she isn't pooping and I don't want to give her another suppository. Poor baby.

Re: Prune Juice
Poor thing I would only do it once today and see if it "produces" a result. Prune juice can cause explosions Good Luck

Re: Prune Juice
We used pear juice. I can't remember exactly when we started. Now that's shes on solids she gets prunes almost every day to help with her chronic constipation.

Re: Prune Juice
My doctor told us to try different things based on how bad the constipation was.
First-sugar water Second (if sugar water didn't work) Watered down apple juice Third-If neither worked, watered down prune juice.
I know a couple of nurses and they were shocked that I was advised to use juice though, and told me to just mix 1 tsp of corn syrup with his bottle 3-4 times a day. I also read this in Parenting magazine recently. This always worked for us.

Re: Prune Juice
We gave michael some prune juice way back when. Sometimes it worked wonders - usually gave him a 1 ounce bottle.
sometimes it didn't work,
Once we had to give him a Suppository !! well my husband had to do it bc I was to chicken, this was several months ago, and ever since we havent had any issues he is a poopie monster now!!
best of luck

Re: Prune Juice
Go with what your Dr said,( prune juice) my sister had to do that with my niece when she was a baby and she also put it in her bottle and it helped a lot.

Re: Prune Juice
Yeah we di the prune juice but you can't just do it once you need to be a little consistent like you said. It works trust me I had to give my DD several suppitories(wrong spelling) because she wouldn't go and now she gets prunes everyday. She's 5 months old

Re: Prune Juice
I have had luck w/ prune juice for DD and never had any explosions. Start with a small amount and gradually increase until you see it working.

Yes, it's never an immediate solution. Hopefully by tomorrow, she'll get some relief.

When we used it, it didn't work until the next morning. Good luck
