Planning our 1 year anniversary trip . . . .

I am SO nervous about this. As many of you know, we were caught in Hurricane Emily in Riviera Maya Mexico for our Honeymoon and only had 4 out of the 11 days of our honeymoon before being evacuated to a shelter and 2 days later, returning home.

They gave us vouchers for 3 free nights. So we want to go back and add on 3 more nights (6 nights total.) We want to go from 7/6-7/12

I am SO scared that since we will be going in July and it will be hurricane season, that we will end up getting stuck in a hurricane again.

I know I have every right to be scared, but should I let this stop me from going there again for our anniversary?

We are going to take a cruise in August to the Caribbean/Mexico and I have similar concerns. I'm trying to be optimistic and not worry since it's out of my control, so that would be my advice. You deserve for this trip to be a good one!

I say go... But if you are worried about hurricane season, is it possible to go earlier or later in the year. While I know the point is to celebrate your anniversary, you could anytime of the year if you are that uneasy about it.

I can definitely relate and I am scared as well to go back. I would go before or after Hurricane season. I definitely want to go back to El Dorado sometime in the future but it will not be any time close to Hurricane season. Chat Icon
