or activity is more effective for LEG fat loss.
I know spot reduction is not possible, but I was wondering if one form of cardio (say, running v. elliptical) is more conducive to burning fat off of your legs. I cannot afford to lose anything in the upper body, but my thighs are driving me batty. I've been doing squats, the stair master, and the leg machines at the gym...I've just GOT to get rid of this fat and dimpling but I want to salvage the boobs I have left

There's a fat loss principle called "first on, last off". In other words, the first place you gain weight is the last place you'll lose it. So sorry to tell you that unless you're not like most women and gain weight in your chest first (instead of hips and thighs), the boobs are going to be the first thing to go when you start losing weight.
The best machine for losing fat (IMO) is the treadmill (if you run).

I'm not sure what kind of "woman" I am...I am kind of hourglass...weight is kind of evenly distributed.
my legs aren't really that fat- I have a lot of muscle, but the fat I DO have, I don't like the way it looks...ah yes, I have the dreaded cellulite.
I am not overweight. I weight 137, 5'6" tall, kind of a large frame. I am not a little girl.

There's still really no way to only lose fat from your legs. The best thing for you to do is any activity that uses your legs a lot, like running and spinning. Both burn a lot of calories and also make your legs more shapely. You may be one of the lucky ones who don't lose much as far as cup size. Me, I'm not so lucky. I've already lost some boobage from losing weight
