Does anyone think that Jessica Tandy's character really was Idgie??? I am always on the fence about this idea.

who was the little girl? I thought Jessica's character was the little girl (didn't they outright say it?) It's been about 10 years since I've seen that movie, though, so my memory isn't that great on it
