Having a rough day....
Usually things aren't so hard...I thought Joseph and I were doing good...maybe not w/ sleeping thru the night, but naps were ok, we have a great schedule going on and he was generally a happy baby during the day. Not so anymore - now, granted, I think he's got a bit of a cold - and he had his shots on Thursday...but he's just been SO fussy these last 2 days... and he will not nap for me unless I'm holding him or we're in the car. Now today I tried to wean him from breast with pumped bottles and he's not taking them (he's had formula, BM and pedialyte bottles before)...I'm just getting very frustrated. DH tries to help, and he's a great daddy and wonderful hubby but I don't feel like he's supportive of ME as a mom. I'm just having one of those days....
Also, anyone have any suggestions on WHY DS will only nurse while he's sleeping during the day??? This has been an ongoing thing... he gets very antsy and squirmy if he's awake but he nurses great during sleep

Re: Having a rough day....
I'm sorry you are having a rough day :( I hope tomorrow is better for you. Could you maybe need a larger nipple on the bottle?
I think sometimes kids just go through phases - keep trying the bottle - he might change his mind tomorrow!

Re: Having a rough day....
I'm sorry you're having such a rough few days I read this interesting article about the "wonder weeks" - have you heard of it? Basically they theorize that right before your little one makes a huge developmental leap, they regress a bit by becoming very fussy and difficulty sleeping. I've noticed this with Alex. She'll have a really rough few days where she won't sleep like she usually does and fusses a lot and will only calm down by nursing. But, after a few days it all calms down and all of a sudden she starts doing something that she never did before. They say that the babies become a little more clingy and needy during those times, and it usually happens around 4 months, so maybe that's what's going on? Maybe he's getting ready to roll!

Re: Having a rough day....
Julia has days like that too, maybe hes not feeling right from his shots he got. Also he is probably teething too, thats why he wants to be held so much, when Julia is teething bad she tends to only want to sleep on me or DH. Sometimes babies can feel when there moms arent having a good day also, when I'm fustrated Julia wants me to hold her more and gets fussy. Hopefully you will have a better day tommorrow!

I'm sorry. I hope tomorrow is better for you. I know most of my friends that EBF had trouble getting their babies to take bottles at times, they just had to keep at it. I hope Joseph is back to himself in the morning.

Re: Having a rough day....
I had a hard time with the bottle also-- try different nipples and keep trying eventually he will take it- also have someone else try- he associayes you with the breast
Bryan used to do the same thing with the nursing- he would fuss and struggle during the day but not at night- turns out it was the reflux and my milk supply. It would hurt to eat but at night he was too sleepy to care about the reflux bothering him I guess thats what I concluded-- Some days he would be ok with nursing and somedays not as good--Honestly I hate to say this but He's much better now with the bottle- he never cries during eating anymore- I dont know why- I always thought that the breast was best but he is a changed man on formula- Im stumped but Im still an advocate of breastfeeding it is the healthiest but its not easy...
