repost from travel: Where to stay in Vegas? (my 1st time)
We want to go to Vegas for our 2nd Anniversary. My parents said they will watch Andrew
Where can we stay? Best place, best price
Also what is the top things we should do there?
Are there any good websites to book through? We don't have a travel agent.
TIA

Re: repost from travel: Where to stay in Vegas? (my 1st time)
When I went a few years ago, we stayed at the Aladdin. I'm not sure if it's there anymore, but it was right in the middle. Perfect location, and a great hotel.
If it's not there anymore (I think they were putting a new Hard Rock in it's place), then you should definatley check out the Bellagio. It was right accross the street from us and it's beautiful. I highly recomend it.
We only got to go to one show, Cirque de Soleil O. It was soooo amazing, so if they have any shows while you're there, it's totally worth it. I was amazed.
We also rented a car and took a drive to the Hoover Dam. I'm not sure how far it was, but it wasn't that far. It was beautiful to see such different surroundings.
ETA: I forgot to add that we went in the beginning of October and the weather was perfect. Not too hot. We were only there for 4 days, and it was perfect.

Re: repost from travel: Where to stay in Vegas? (my 1st time)
I've stayed at:
Rio (off the strip, but very fun atmosphere, younger (25-35)
Bellagio (on the strip, expensive, not so fun)
Tuscany Suites (off the strip, very inexpensive, all suite hotel, brand new, fun)
Luxor (on the strip, inexpensive, PITA to get around b/c of the elevators, a lot of fun!)
Mandalay Bay (on the strip, expensive, BEST FUN EVERRRRR)
Monte Carlo (best location on the strip IMHO, inexpensive, loads of fun)

Re: repost from travel: Where to stay in Vegas? (my 1st time)
I stayed at the MGM. It's not really in the middle of the strip, but it was convenient. It was like $250 a night on weekends, $200 during the week. It was huge though, which was a PITA to leave walking through everything. If we go again I think I would do Paris or the Bellagio ($$$$$$). I loved Paris visiting though. I would get tix to a Cirque du Soleil show before you go--definitely worth it.
How long are you going for? If we went again I would try to set aside a day or two to go to Red Rock Canyon or some of the other nature-y stuff. I kind of had it with the strip after a few days.

We stayed at Luxor for my bach party and it was great - reasonable also. If I was looking to splurge I would definitely stay at the Bellagio - beautiful! My parents are staying at Paris in Oct, and the price was pretty reasonable.

I went 2x. Stayed at the Venetian-it was beautiful-woud recommend it.The rooms are huge.
Also stayed at the Palms. I liked it but it's more of a younger scene.

Re: repost from travel: Where to stay in Vegas? (my 1st time)
Vegas baby. dh and i love Vegas.
First time we stayed in the now extinct Boardwalk Hotel .
Second time we stayed at Caesars. What a place!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We did a day trip to the Grand Canyon!!! Amazing. We saw the Hoover Dam too.
Old vegas was fun!!
The restaurants were great. Loved the Luxor Steakhouse at the Luxor hotel.
Celine Dion was unbelievable. Loved Blue Man Group. First time we were there, we saw Siegfried and Roy. Glad we got to see it before Roy? was hurt or was it Sigfried???
Blackjack, roulette, blackjack, roulette, gambling is so much fun!!!!!!!!!!
Just don't stay at the Palms, Rio or Orleans. Great hotels.. but way off the strip.
Good ones to stay in are Paris, Caesars, Flamingo, Ballys, Monte Carlo , bellagio. They are right in the middle of the strip.
Ahh ... Vegas wanna go back.

Monte Carlo is on the strip and best for your money. Its very pretty, clean..good service..and fun. It doesn't necesariily have all the fun amenities like Venetian...but you end up going to all the hotels anyways.
Also the mirage is great and loads of fun!!!!
