Travelling and formula feeding?

we are going to Maryland for a wedding April 6-9 and I bought cans of RTF because I figured it'd be easier to deal with in a hotel room than making powder bottles (and not having boiled off water).

Should I do this or figure out a way to continue with powder and not interrupt her schedule

We always had Sarah on RTF so we used the little cans, but we bought those when we got to FL. On the plane I used these 4oz tubes of powdered formula that similac makes and bottled water. I didn't know if the security people would make me open the cans at the xray machine.

Re: Travelling and formula feeding?

I do the opposite...we do powder now cuz it's cheaper and I bought RTF on sale at CVS with the retail checks REALLY CHEAP and reading jcndds' post, someone said that even switching between powder and RTF can upset babys' system and cause problemsChat Icon

I'd probably stick to powdered and use bottled water. Just to be on the safe side. Can you exchange the RTF for powdered?

I switched Bryan from powdered to RTF with no problems- for me rtf is so much easier.

Re: Travelling and formula feeding?

I would do the powder and bottled water, it is easier in a hotel room because you don't have to worry about refridgerating the rtf once it is open, unless you buy the little 2 or 3 oz jars, but you end up wasting a bunch.

As far as upsetting her stomach, for some reason Katie does not digest the powder well at all, we only give her ready to feed and it is a PITA. The powdered was so much easier.

I would just stick with powder and be sure to have single serve bottled water on hand. You can use that to mix and make formula, not boiling needed. Chat Icon

Re: Travelling and formula feeding?

I find using powder is easier when you are traveling. Just buy a bottle of nursery water or regular bottle water when you get to MD and use that for the bottles. You don't have to worry about refridgeration and there's no waste if you don't finish a can of RTF.

Powder and room temp bottled water is what I do on the go. Easier IMO.
