Need co-worker advice...kind of long

I have a co worker who sits RIGHT next to me, as in 3 feet away. There is no divider between us, just a printer.

She is older, mid 40's, sterotypical tough Italian from the Bronx...and loud as he l l

She is on the phone non stop alllll day long every day making personal calls.

She also has a sinus problem and all I hear is constant gutteral snorting noises.

What should I do? She is so NOT the type that I can approach and say anthing to. If I do, she'll hold it against me forever.

I mentioned the obsecene "noise level" around here to my supervisor but not specific names (I didn't want to go that route if I could avoid it). My supervisor came up here 2 times and figures my co-worker wasn't on the phone either time.

Sorry so long...what do I do? I have headaches every day, which I thought was from being PG but I dont think its entirely PG related - its more so related to the fact that she can't shut her big yap!

That's a toughie...I would nicely mention to her that your supervisor brought the noise level to your attention and that you thought you should let her know so she can tone it down.

I have no advice but I sympathize with the snorting noises- I have gotten used to the teacher I share my office with but there is a woman in the office who does it not stop- I feel badly because she clearly needs medical help but I also really get grossed out. Chat Icon

what about a radio, maybe something to listen to and drown her out...

I don't suppose you can wear headphones?

so sorry you have to deal with this.

I have a similiar situation...one of the girls who works in the front office is not only loud she is offensive.

I brought in some Cd's that I put into my computer....the music really does help me to block her out.

Re: Need co-worker advice...kind of long

i wouldn't say anything

unfortunately there is nothing you can do aside from trying to drown out the noise

if you confront her, like you say, she will hold a grudge

if you go to the boss and rat her out, it will come back to you

if you lie and say the boss mentioned the noise, she sounds like the kind that would confront the boss. Then when the boss denies saying anything of the sort, you look bad to both boss and co-worker

Is there anywhere else in the office where you can sit? Maybe, say you need to be closer to the bathroom, or near an air vent.... I don't know Kathy but I hope you can work this out!!!

I had a co-worker like that - dirty filthy mouth, loud, obnoxious....then, she was fired.....and the offic emoved to FL...and I wokr alone...and I actually MISS her!! Chat Icon
