Totally depends on the item of clothing, how long I wore it for, color (anything white or very light colored should get cleaned after 1 wear otherwise it will collect body soil), and how "dirty" it got.

Depending upon what it is I still try to wash them in the delicate cycle or hand wash them. This usually works.

If it was a suit (lined and I wear something underneath) about three or four times unless I spilt something.

I try to avoid the dry cleaners and buying dry clean only clothes as I'm worried about the long term effect of the chemicals.

Re: If your clothes say DRY CLEAN ONLY

It totally depends on what it is-- some things need to be cleaned after every wear-- others, like someone else said-- til it's dirty or smelly!

Re: If your clothes say DRY CLEAN ONLY

Mostly tops and pants I take after one time. Suits and some skirts probably 2 or 3 times.

My dry cleaning bill is out of hand.

Pants, I usually take after a few wearings.
Sweater, if worn over shirts or camis, I will only dry clean a few times a season.
My winter coats go once a season.

Re: If your clothes say DRY CLEAN ONLY

I take DH's shirts and pants every week - spend about $20-$30. He is always clean and freshly pressed.

I take my own stuff if I have worn it a few times and it starts to look dingy. I don't dress up for work (work from home) so I don't have much to clean.

Re: If your clothes say DRY CLEAN ONLY

you know....I used to be so anal about my dry clean only stuff. I would wear probably twice before taking it to the cleaners. Recently I have been hand washing or washing on the delicate cycle....and I ruined one of my fav pants. Chat Icon I was so upset with myself.
