KNIT New York, My Review -- Now with Pics!

I went to a knitting class last night at KNIT New York, on 14th Street and 2nd Avenue in NYC. I am a crocheter and thought it would be cool to learn to knit also.

The class was $75 and included the supplies. I know it sounds a little pricey, but I thought it was worth it. The yarn and needles alone would have been around $30.

The class was fun. Not very full...just me and two other friends, although I was told that in the winter the classes book up very quickly. The "teacher" was a young girl, maybe in her early 20s and really nice. We did a hat. I didn't finish it at the class but when I went home, I finished it right away. It was pretty easy and she was a super teacher.

They also sell all different kinds of yarn. I say if you are not too far from there and feel like taking the trip, do it. It was a great experience.

That sounds great!! Is it 75 per week or does it taper off?

Any pics of the hat? Chat Icon

no, it is $75 for one class. You learn the stitch. then, there are two other classes, each $75. I don't think I am going to do the other two classes now that I know how to do the knit stitch I can basically teach myself the others.

I do have pics, just have to upload.Chat Icon

Thanks! I will. The prices for the yarn at KNIT were pretty decent...they had some really expensive cashmenere yarn and stuff like that, but then they had some really good priced blended yarns.

I will check on which kind they gave us to use.

You're hat looks great. I'm gald you enjoyed your knitting class. The only other stitch you really need to learn is "purl" and then you're on your way. The patterns are mostly a combination of knitting and purling. (I've been knitting for about five years now and I love it.)

Good luck with your future projects.
