Automatic Car Starter Question..
I am thinking about getting this for my step-father for xmas, but I have a few questions..
1- Does anyone know how much it is? With and without instalation..
2- He has a Chevy Trailblazer, and it's a lease... does it matter if it's factory done or not?
3- I've heard some people having issues with them stalling out their cars.. is this true?
Thanks!!

Great! Thanks for the reply!!
Now, if anyone knows non-installed... Someone was telling me yesterday that they range between $80-$100, but I thought this was kind of cheap...

Re: Automatic Car Starter Question..
I had mine done at the Ford dealership and I don't know how much it was because it was a gift to me from my father's friend who works there.
When it's really cold out, sometimes it doesn't start. So you have to shut it off (by pressing the buttons) and retry it again. It would always start the second time....but that's when it was freezing out.

Re: Automatic Car Starter Question..
My DH installs them.... Depending on what type of car you have it'll cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $200-300, you can get cheap ones, but the range could be bad and the unit might not last long, in the end, you get what you pay for ,also, the advertised price a lot of times is for the unit, not the installation.. someone I know went to PC Richards and ended up with a $600 bill after they said $99!! it's just a module, it can be removed when you turn the car in. The remote I'm having installed sometime this week tells me if the car is locked or not, if it is actually started and the temperature in the car (my DH has that one now, it's really cool!!)

Re: Automatic Car Starter Question..
I got ours at Parkway Car and Stereo. I believe they came out to around 75/per vehicle. We got a discount for getting 3 of them put in. (3 vehicles) I've never had a problem with them and it is a GODSEND, esp. being that I have 3 kiddies that I don't want to get sick.

My traiblazer had that problem, my DH hooked up some wire (I don't know any more than that ) and it didn't do it again

So he charges $2-300 for the unit and the instalation? I heard it voids your warranty... That's what's holding me back from actually doing it. Does your DH have a shop where he does it? My step-father would probably bring it to the guys he knows for instalation.. so I would just get him the unit, but I really know nothing about the units. Does your DH sell just the unit to be installed elsewhere?

Re: Automatic Car Starter Question..
I don't know about the warranty thing... I can ask.... yes he has his own shop, he does all custom automotive electronics.... it's all the way out in Water Mill though I can ask my DH what unit is good and I'm not sure if he sells them separately, I'll let you know

Re: Automatic Car Starter Question..
I've used Movin On (address is below). I've used them for both of our cars and even had our stereo updated in one car by them. They are great to work with and I love my auto start! Def. worth the $ to get into your car already warmed up on those freezing cold days We just had it installed in our Nissan xterra for about $250 and it was the better model with longer range

Re: Automatic Car Starter Question..
I got mine installed at Parkway also, almost three years ago. At the time, it was $150 including installation and I have never had a problem...AND I LOVE IT!!!!!! BTW, I have a Hyundai and I checked with them before installation and it didn't void the warranty. Just call a Chevy dealer and ask, I am sure it won't void it though. Good luck!!!!!!!
