Mortgage quotes
How many quotes did you get before choosing your bank/broker?
I think we are going to try two brokers and three banks? Is that too much?

I talked to at least five different brokers before I chose mine.
The banks you don't even have to check them out in person... all the major banks post their interest rates on their websites along with their good faith estimates.

YOu shouldn't look at more than 3 only because each one that you go to will pull your credit & too many pulls of credit could affect your score which you don't want to do.

We checked with three brokers and ended up with a mortgage banker because they had the lowest rate.

DH and I went through a broker, they did all that wheeling and dealing for us and presented it to us if we didnt like it he went to bat for us again or with someone else.

DEFINITELY NOT TRUE.
Just as long as all the pulls are dpne within 30 days of each other they are treated as one pull by the credit agencies.
This is called mortgage shopping.
