Random Thank You card thought...
Growing up, I always had to send thank you cards for every gift i recieved... even if i said 'thank you' over the phone, or when i recieved it. My mom STILL likes to remind me about sending thank you's...
But earlier it occured to me... Never ONCE did I EVER recieve a thank you from grandparents/aunts/uncles that I sent/gave gifts to. And I bought gifts with my own money starting at age 6. Yes, they were crappy gifts, but I wouldn't let my mom pay for them.
Is this common? Once there's no parent around to tell you to send thank you's, do you just stop?
Just some random sunday musings...

I send them after big parties, like showers and what-not, but if I have lunch with friends for my b-day or something I don't send out t/y cards. And the whole family exchanges gifts for the holidays and noone sends t/y cards.

Re: Random Thank You card thought...
Yeah... i was just thinking because with all the craziness of going back to school, I apparently forgot to send one to my grandmother, which has her all in a tizzy... But never once did I ever recieve a thank you from her for a christmas or birthday gift.
I really couldn't care less... except for the fact that she's b!tching to my mom about it.

I soooooooooo laugh at the same thing because my mom is the only adult that I get a thank you from. No wait, my MIL writes them too. But you are right! And my mom was always on my a$$ about writing them. I guess it worked because I write them to my class when they give me gifts.

I send thank you notes for everything - gifts, dinner, you name it. It's old fashioned, I know, but I love getting handwritten notes myself and so many other little "niceties" aren't done anymore so I like to keep sending those thanks u's!
