When it comes to terrorism related things, nothing surprises me anymore, so it's upsetting, but I don't think about it too much.

What causes me more anxiety are natural disasters, because they just seem so much bigger than us. And I think the things we're doing to the planet are a huge problem, but no one (i.e. federal, state, local governments) don't seem too concerned.

Yeah, the terrorism thing gets to me the most too. It's scary knowing that anything can happen at anytime. I was in London last year right after the bombings and it made you feel so out of control.

The news always depresses me-- whether it's little kids being shot on the street in Brooklyn, or large groups of people being murdered on the other side of the world.

There is a lot of natural disaster, hate and love in this world. At certain times, we need to focus on the latter in order to deal with the first two.

It seems like every time you turn on the news, something bad has happened. I guess thats what makes stories. But it does in a way seem like there is something wrong with the world, and at times very hard to stay positive but we must!

Re: Anyone else depressed about current events?

Sometimes it bothers me, but I do know that if I dwell on it I won't focus on what's really important. But I do pay attention enough to know that things just aren't right.

I find it most frightening because you don't know what is going to happen next and where.
But, at the same time, we have to go on living and enjoy the good things.

Re: Anyone else depressed about current events?

I used to be very concerned and upset about the state of the world, especially during my pregnancy when I would just be like, "How can I bring a child into this horrible world?" HOwever, since having Ava, I have realized that she IS my world, and I need to make it the best I can for HER especially because the rest of this world is so F-ed up. So I don't worry about it because I can't do anything to change it, however, I can control my immediate world and try to make it a safe, happy place for my baby.Chat Icon

HOenstly, that's a smart way to deal. There's nothign you can do to change it, and the news probably doesn't give any really accurate info anyway!Chat Icon
I'm convinced teh world is no worse than it has been for decades, it's just the news reporting that makes it seem worse.

No, but I rarely stress about things - and never about things I can't change.
