How can I change my husbands mind?

Ok..ladies you HAVE to help me! LOL

At first, my husband and I decided not to find out the sex of the baby. We wanted to be surprised. But now, I have changed my mind. I just think it would make it so much more real if we knew what it was and it would be easier to prepare too. But my husband will not budge. He says this is one thing he wont change his mind on.

What can I tell him to change his mind?? LOL I have tried everything. Has anyone had this problem??

Tell him that it's easier to register for things if you know the sex of the baby. Plus you can decorate the baby's room appropriately.

Ask him if YOU can find out the sex and you promise not to tell him or give it away to keep the surprise for him.

OK, here's my suggestion. Have the sono tech write it down and seal it in an envelope. Then, get him REALLY drunk, and happen to have the envelope on hand...encourage him to open itChat Icon VOILA! You find out the sexChat Icon

I explained to him how much easier it would be to register and buy things ahead of time and how we could better do the nursery if we knew the sex. I told him if it was a boy we could do it all sports themed Chat Icon but I wouldnt be able to do that right away if we didnt know...its a girlChat Icon

I found that my DH really bonded with the baby more once he found out. Especially for the men, it makes it more real.

That being said, I would tell him that it is very important to you to find out. Tell him that you are worrying about so much adn there will be so many surprises in the delivery room, that this one will be too overwhelming for you. Let him know that you will find out and ask him if you want to to tell him, or if you want to keep it to yourself. That way its a good compromise. YOu know- he doesn't. I doubt he'll be able to not know once he knows that you know. Does that make sense? Chat Icon

Re: How can I change my husbands mind?

My DH was like that too. He was stuck on the surprise factor in the delivery room. I told him it's going to be a surprise what the baby looks like, and he knows I HATE surprises.

I worked on him for a week or two, and finally told him that if he didn't want to know that's fine, but I am finding out and I promised him I would torture him for the rest of the pg. I also told him this is my body, I am the one who goes through the pain of birth, that's enough for me, the sex of the baby is my gift.

I did promise him I would consider not finding out for the next one, but he is soooo excited about his baby girl now, he is already talking about if we have a boy next time how he would do his room or if we have another girl, he wants her bedding to be more girly.
SOOooo, we are finding out next time too.Chat Icon

Sorry so long, but basically there was no debate, I was a brat and put my foot down that I was finding out and he can do what he wants.

I didn't want to find out but DH kept telling how much easier it would be if we did find out. He kept saying to me do you really want people to give you yellow and green outfits at your baby shower. What really changed my mind was when I went to my friend's baby shower she got all this outfits (yellow & green) and when her baby was born her family went out and bought pink outfits and never wore the yellow and greens.
So we are having a boy and I am so glad I did.

Hopefully this will convince your DH.
Good Luck!!

Re: How can I change my husbands mind?

I like being surprised so I am not good at helping but maybe ask him why he wants to to be suprised. Maybe you will both be able to come to a decision that way.

Tell him too bad, that you are finding out and that is that Chat Icon I think you have some good suggestions about the planning, etc. My DH and I both equally couldn't wait to find out.
