any one of these would be great:
Onesies (she will need A TON of them, trust me)
an outfit (like footie PJ's or something that can get dirty, nothing too fancy)
flowers
wine or Champange (for her and her DH to share in the hospital)
diapers

I agree with all of the above! Also if you know what kind of food she likes maybe outside food. I couldn't stand the hospital stuff

I agree with the food. I had gestational diabetes and couldn;t have chocolate. My BIL and SIL brough me truffles just for me!

I agree too! My friend bought me trashy mags and choc. chip cookies. I was thrilled. Personally I hated having to have my poor DH schlep all those gifts home every night, so I always bring a gift for the actual baby after they come home.

My sister brought me some of the most amazing pasteries from an awesome bakery near her house and I loved that since I was in the hospital for 4 days and sometimes the meals just sucked -- plus they brought dinner at like 4pm so at night I'd get hungry.
For the baby maybe some bigger sizes? We had plenty through size 9 months but after that we ran out. Maybe some size 12 month footsie PJs in a light weight material so they could be used pretty much any season?
Also my friend's Mom made us an Embroidered burp cloth diaper thingy which w now have framed with her name, birth date, time, weight, height and it was really special so if you can get anything personalized like a bib or something at things remembered that would be so nice also!
