Question for those that use powdered formula???
Do you prepare each bottle as you need it or do you prepare all the bottles for the day. Right now I'm using the ready made but I think I might switch to the powder.

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
Not a current user, but I would bring the powder with me in a bottle - and if I was out just get warm water to add in. I found powder a lot easier to use since I didn't have to heat it or toss it in 48hours.

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
If I'm home, I prepare the bottles as needed. If I'm going out for a short trip, I prepare a bottle and bring it with me. Of course, I bring extra powder and some bottled water just in case though.

No never made them in advance, kept the bottle of Poland Spring at room temp and mixed it at feeding time. So much more convenient for on the go too!

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
I'm pumping so we use mostly breast milk, but sometimes she wants extra at feedings and at night we use formula so I pre-mix enough for a few bottles and just keep them ready to go -- then reheat them in the bottle warmer.

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
It depended... if I was going for a drive, and I was going to be driving, and DH or someone else wasnt gonna be with me.. I would pack two made.. the first I would give to him as we were leaving, and the second I would give ASAP.. I also paked them with a cold pack, the bottle holder bag that I used to have had it "in" it..
If I thought it was sitting too long, or if it got warm I would chuck it, but I always brought extra and a couple of waters.. Kept a whole walmart case in my trunk.. obviously not during winter!
Trust your mommy instincts.. you will get used to the "flow" of things once you start on powder! Good Luck!

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
I prepared them ahead of time. I would prepare a batch of about 36 ounces in a tupperware water bottle type thing. I found it much easier to just shake it up in there and then pour into each bottle. Usually each batch would be good for a day and 1/2 of bottles.

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
I use the powdered when I go out. I put the water in the bottle and the powder in a 3 part compartment that I got from BRU. It's great bc I don't thave to worry about it going bad.

Re: Question for those that use powdered formula???
I use powdered formula in Dr Browns bottles. Sometimes I make the bottles ahead of time, other times I don't. I found that filling them with water first and then adding the formula helps it mix together better. I usually use a fork to mix them...I try to avoid shaking b/c it causes lots of bubbles.

Do you use Similac? In the beginning when I used the hospital samples it made awful bubbles, I swtiched to Good Start and shook in the bottle (avent) and no bubbles.
