Subway to Yankee Stadium

DH and I are going to the game tomorrow night and I have no idea how to get there from Penn Station. I think we walk up to the D (a few blocks?) and go the the Stadium from there but for some reason I think it doesn't run at certain times.

What is the best way to get back and forth b/w Penn Station and Yankee Stadium at night? Thanks.

Re: Subway to Yankee Stadium

The D takes you to 161/Yankee Stadium - you have to leave Penn Station and walk one avenue to 34th Street/Herald Square sdtation (at 6th Avenue) to catch the D though.

The 4 also goes to yankee Stadium but that's on the east side and nowhere near Penn Station.

Good luck!

Thanks. Does the D only work at certain times? Will it be running b/w Herald Square and Yankee Stadium all night?

So we are ok going back and forth on the D? Why does this stuff always confuse me. I am such a moron when it comes to the subway system. Thanks so much for your help!

I just realized that peak is from Manhattan until 6:45pm. We will be leaving Penn at like 6:00. Does that mean we can't take the D?

I can't see there being a Yankee Game and them NOT stopping at the stadium! But I don;t know for sure. But if you are nervous, at Herald Square, instead of getting on the D hop on the R, N, or W train to 59th/Lexington Avenue. Transfer to the 4 train and take the 4-train to Yankee Stadium.
