Marissa started day care

today and it broke my heart when we dropped her off she was fine until FH took off her jacket she started saying no daddy no daddy I had to walk away cuz I was so upset the woman is very nice and she is afriend of the family so she took marissa out in the back and she calmed down alittle but she was still upset. I called a little while ago to check up on her and she said it took her a while to calm down but she is doing fine now.

That must be very hard! Chat Icon

I don't drop Andrew off at day care b/c I know how difficult it would be if he were to get upset. I get the fun part of picking him up in the evenings when he's so happy to see me!

It'll get easier!

Oh absolutely it was great you both went on her first day. Will she be there a full day today, or can someone pick her up a little early? I had DH pick Andrew up early the first week b/c I didn't want him to be too overwhelmed. I couldn't pick him up early b/c I don't get home until 6:30.

Yes FH is going to pick her up a little early but not much earlier cuz he has a few things he has to do today I will be picking her up next week I will leave work a little earlier to get her she is going two days a week to start then we will do three then itwill be a full week. I wanted to do the transition slowly so she wouldn't be overwhelmed with the day care.

Re: Marissa started day care

One thing that helped me was telling them matter of factly "that's the schedule" when they would say they didn't want to go to school. Then occasionally I would wake up & tell them "I don't want to go to work today." and they respond "Sorry. That's the schedule."

We still have some days were drop offs can be tough. Keep in mind both my kids have been in daycare since they were 3 months old. I've gotten on the train with Maddie's cries still in my head. But in the end, they do survive, and so do we.

Re: Marissa started day care

I know how hard it is --- There are days where all I can think about is holding my baby again. It is hard becuase you're starting it when she is a little bit older so she's not used to it but hopefully she'll be having tons of fun soon and it won't be so hard to leave her in the morning.

Just think of hw much love and cuddles you are going to want to give her now at night!!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Well I was good I only called 3 times and she was doing fine when we left she cried for a bit but anothoer little girl came over and took her to play and she was playing after a while she took her nap and ate so that was good when FH went to pick her up she ran to him and hugged him when I walked in the door she ran to me and nearly knocked me over. She is home today and goes back again tomorrow then next week she will be going 3 days but FH will be dropping her off and Iwill be picking her up. I wouldn't be able to deal with her crying. She is very attached cuz FH is always home during the day and he always watched her and I was always with her at nite but his schedule is going to change soon and he will be working days so thats why we are putting her in daycare so late.
