Medical Insurance question
What does your or your DH's company require that they pay for insurance? DH is up for a new job and the medical contribution is 35% . When it is broken down, it is almost 400.00 per pay check. Is that the norm? Is that high? I pay $14.00 per pay check for medical and I know that is low. TIA

Re: Medical Insurance question
Mine is $35 per pay check (every two weeks). I have a $15 copay at the doctor and for prescriptions. $400 sounds insane, but I know mine is very good because I work for the state.

Re: Medical Insurance question
I work for my health insurance company, I pay $10 a paycheck for Me and DH.
At DH's job he was paying $36 a week for single, and $80 a week for me and him.
Some companies are free these days.

Re: Medical Insurance question
It would be $396.00 before tax per bi-weekly paycheck....
I work for the Archdiocese and pay 14.00 bi-weekly for the both of us and have a pretty good plan.

Re: Medical Insurance question
That's high. The only industry I know of that has such a high cost to the employee is car sales

Re: Medical Insurance question
My company pays 100% for me and 75% for my spouse or family. I pay $200 a month for DH for our PPO - I would only pay about $150 for him if we took the HMO.

Re: Medical Insurance question
My DH's company pays 100% for both of us...we are very lucky.
They also reimburse us for co-pays.
Now, if they would only add IVF coverage...

Re: Medical Insurance question
One of the reasons my DH has to change jobs is for insurance. This coverage gives us 1 shot at IVF. But then when we calculated the cost of the insurance, we basically are paying for it ourselves. Since that is the case, we can just save and pay over one year.

Re: Medical Insurance question
Keep in mind it is not just about how much you pay but what plan you get. Is it a HMO, PPO, etc - because some plans that cover more or give you more options so you would be comparing apples to oranges.

Re: Medical Insurance question
Dh works for Verizon and he doesn't have to pay for us. And we have a great plan.
