VFW's or Firehouses to rent hall space
Has anyone had or attended a birthday, shower or another function in a VFW, firehouse, or Knight of Columbus? We would like to hold a dual first birthday party and need contact info or details of any in Nassau. Any help would be appreciated!

You can do a search on yellow pages for VFW halls. I held a party once in the Farmingdale one. It was big and nice! You do have to bring everything where a Knights of Columbus offers food.

Another palce you can check is the Elks Club. I went to a communion party at the Elks Club in Lynbrook a few years ago. You might have to know a member of an Elks Club to use the hall, though.

Re: VFW's or Firehouses to rent hall space
I had my moms 50th at the East Meadow Benevolen (sp?) Hall. It is gorgeous and roomy, nice bar, very clean and it has a gorgeous outside, like a small closed in field, for kids to run around, could even put those blow up things back there. Really would be perfect for a 1st. Plenty of parking, they have their own lot and it is on a nice quiet stree. They also have a DJ booth inside, which they have one to hire reasonably or you can bring in your own. They included soda for free and we brought everything else in ourselves, but I think they offer the liquor for a fee and we got a bartender free too. Definitely a nice place to check out, its cozy and can fit a good number of people. FM if you want more info!!
