Yay - finally a serious offer to consider!
We FINALLY got an offer on the co-op that is within our range. 
Need some advice please:
When we call him back is okay to tell him that the number is fine but before we can accept we need a pre-approval?

 That is soooo great!
Yes - ask them to fax over their preapproval. Also - have them put in writing how much money they will be putting down.
