Avent bottle users- nipple questions!

Hi!

1- at what age did you switch to #2 nipples, #3 etc?

2- how do you know to move up in nipples?

3- what is the difference in the nipples?

Thanks!

Well, the difference is the size of the hole, so a faster flow each size up.

I did not change to #2 until 6 months. My doctor said if she's not complaining, why change anything? My sister guilted me into changing and I have to say, I really didn't notice that the feedings were going any quicker.

At 8 mos. I still use #2; I don't think I even own #3 and it doesn't seem to be necessary for us right now anyway.

Hmmmmm....

Bella has been spitting up a TON lately so I searched on here as to when moms switched nipples (any bottle brands) and the majority said 3 months stage 2. Well, Avent recommends stage 2 for a 2 month old Chat Icon

I took her spitting up most of what she drank as a sign to change- thought the reason behind her spitting up was she was drinking too fast and that the #1 nipple was too easy for her allowing her to take more in at once.

I am so confused!Chat Icon

Re: Avent bottle users- nipple questions!

I don't use advent, but the higher the nipple number, the faster the flow. When I saw my daughter get frustrated or if she seemed to be sucking for a while and only took a little milk- it was time to change. You don't want them to struggle to get the milk- they will get tired and give up. JMO- maybe the nipple isn't your problem? Maybe it's the formula or something else. Good luck!
