I went last February -- on business so I didn't get to do all of the touristy stuff. But we did go to the pyramids at Giza, and the Bazaar in the center of the city.
Dress modestly, no shorts or tanks, but otherwise youa re fine. I did not feel threatened or scared at any time while there. However, I was accompanied by my supplier, who is Egyptian, at all times. They drive crazy, no laws or lines or anything, so beware when crossing the streets. Also the Museum in Cairo is supposed to be amazing, I am so sorry I missed it.
