TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD SUMMER PET ADOPTION PROGRAM BEGINS - FEES WAIVED

Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray has announced the beginning of
the Town of Hempstead 2005 Summer Pet Adoption Program.

"Summer is a great time to bring a new pet home," said Murray. "We at
Hempstead Town want to make it easier for our residents to adopt one of
our animal shelter's wonderful cats or dogs."

During the Summer Pet Adoption Program, the town is waiving adoption
and rabies shot fees for any pets adopted from its animal shelter between
July 15 and August 23. "By rescinding these fees, we are making pet
ownership more affordable," said the Supervisor. "Those adopting a cat
or dog will save $40 during this program."

The Supervisor added that Pioneers for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is
also providing free spaying and neutering services for pets adopted as
part of this program, offering residents additional savings of up to
$85.

Anyone interested in viewing pets that are available for adoption can
visit Hempstead Town's website at www.TOH.LI and use the Petfinder link.
Additionally, the town invites pet lovers to visit the animal shelter
at 3320 Beltagh Avenue in Wantagh. Office hours are from 9 a.m. to 4:30
p.m., Monday through Saturday. For more information, prospective pet
owners can call the shelter at 516-785-5220.

"Last year's 'Summer of Love' Pet Adoption Program was a remarkable
success, with 122 dogs and 154 cats adopted," concluded Murray. "We hope
that by continuing this program and waiving adoption fees, Hempstead
Town will be able to continue helping residents experience the joy of pet
ownership and giving these animals good homes with loving owners."
