It happened to me and it's carpal tunnel syndrome. It happens to some women during pregnancy.

So Carpal tunnel starts out as feeling like your fingers are tight or asleep?

Re: Anybody else wake up in the morning with your hands totally asleep?
It could be poor circulation. This happens to me now all the time, sometimes it takes me a good 20 minutes till all the feeling is back in my hand /arm. The Dr said its poor circulation and I do know that circulation decreases when your PG due to the added blood flow and have heard this happen to a lot of PG women.
In your situation if its just like you described and not when writing/typing, I would actually say its not carpel tunnel.

Yes my doc told me it's carpal tunnel due to PG. I wore wrist guards to sleep and they helped sooo much. If you have a National Wholesale liquidators by you, you can buy them there for $5. Pharmacies sell those same wrist guards for $15+++

Re: Anybody else wake up in the morning with your hands totally asleep?
OMG!!! This happens to meevery morning! I can't feel them. It was so bad the other morning, that when I got a phone call about my mom, I couldn't press the talk button on the phone, I had to wake DH up to press the button. This past week, has been so bad, and it is only in the morning, no other time of day. I am going to talk to my doctor about it on Wednesday

I was frightened last night b/c they were numb for longer than usual - I kept slamming my arm on the bed to wake it up - oh the joys of pregnancy! LOL

Re: Anybody else wake up in the morning with your hands totally asleep?
I had the sleeping hands, and numb fingers for my first pregnancy. It went away after I gave birth. I wonder if I'll get it this time, so far I haven't.

Me!! Mine is similiar to carpel tiunnel but its called Ulnar Tunnel. The difference is that carpel could be all the fingers and Ulnar is the pinkie and the ring finger.

Re: Anybody else wake up in the morning with your hands totally asleep?
it happens to me, too, but i think it's just poor circulation b/c i don't have any pain w/ it. if i lay on the couch or anywhere, usually, for a long period of time it happens, too.

Re: Anybody else wake up in the morning with your hands totally asleep?
I had it in both hands. I slept with wrist braces that are for Carpul Tunnel. It was really bad. I had to wear one at work because my fingers were numb all the time. It was mainly my middle, pointer and thumb. It went away about 3 or 4 weeks after I had the baby.

Re: Anybody else wake up in the morning with your hands totally asleep?
i think mine is just poor circulation. it only happens when i'm sleeping/waking up- especially when i am laying on my side pressed against my arm. i don't have any pain with it, just the numbness and it's never during the day.
