Belly Sleeper
Ok so my dd refuses to sleep any other way except on her belly. She is 10 weeks today. I have tried over and over again to get her to sleep on her back but she just screams. I started letting her sleep on her belly while I am still up and then moving her to her swing when I went to bed. Then that stopped working and she would wake up and not go back to sleep. Now I try and flip her over once she is in a deep sleep but she wakes up, I mean wide awake. What do I do? I just got the angel care monitor that goes under the mattress and has an alarm that goes off when there is no movement for 20 seconds.

Re: Belly Sleeper
My son was also a belly sleeper. We used the angel care monitor and we also used a video monitor. The both of them together gave me peace of mind.

Re: Belly Sleeper
Most the people on this site know that I'm an advocate of belly sleeping. There isn't one mammal on this planet that sleeps on its back.
I know we're all petrified of the SIDS risk. As someone who was a survivor of SIDS, I was too. As long as its a firm mattress, no blankets, no stuffed animals/toys, I was ok with it for both of my kids. It's a decision we all need to make on our own...

DD sleeps on her bely too - always. She cant sleep on her back bc of a/r. She sleeps 7-8 hrs a night on her back and naps that way too. We also have the Angel Care monitor and it is VERY reassuring to have that.

Re: Belly Sleeper
Ava has been sleeping on her belly for over a month now. She'll be 12 weeks tomorrow. She just could not sleep on her back, she wasn't comfortable, and sleeping on her belly seems to make her more comfy from her reflux. She has very good head control already and can push up and turn her head side to side. She also rolls from her back to her stomache, so even if I wanted her to sleep on her back, she wouldn't. I do check on her a lot, but she sleeps very well now.

Re: Belly Sleeper
My DD has also been sleeping on her belly since she was about 6 weeks old. She just wouldn't sleep on her back for more than an hour or two at a time. When I put her on her belly she started sleeping through the night. I also waited until she could lift and turn her head.
Just be careful when you go to the ped. if they ask you, the answer is "of course she sleeps on her back". My ped went wild when I told him that she sleeps better on her belly.

Re: Belly Sleeper
let her sleep on her belly.
Can she move her had from side to side while on her belly? Good neck control? can she roll over on her own?
She'll be fine....I was so worried when DD started rolling over on her own to sleep on her belly but relieved when the stretches got longer and longer and eventually became all night!!

Re: Belly Sleeper
Bryan is a belly sleeper I was worried at first but that quickly dissapeared as I saw that he slept so much better that way.

Re: Belly Sleeper
My son starts off on his back and winds up on his belly. This has just started happening like this week. He used to only sleep on his left side, but he seemed uncomfortable, and kept night waking. The past few nights, he has woken up after an hr or so of going to sleep and I flip him over onto his belly and he has been sleeping the whole night!! I am so excited.. dont get me wrong, even at 8 months old, i am going in the room like 50 million times to check on him, and i have the video monitor too. He is totally fine and has been sleeping so much better.. i say let her do it!!!

Re: Belly Sleeper
My DD also preferred her belly. I swaddled her at night on her back and let her nap on her belly. Now she rolls over to her belly at night. I can totally relate to your post, I was there a few months ago!
