Help!100% Shea Butter?
My 4 year old has extremely dry skin since winter has started. I think it's also because he's been making ornaments at school that made it worse.
Anyway, they are cracked & bleeding in some areas. One night I tried Eucerin & he screamed bloody murder and his hands turned red. The next night I tried Aquaphor. Same thing.
The Bath & Body Works salesperson told me to try 100% Shea Butter, but they're completely sold out & won't get a deliver until after the holidays.
Does anyone have or know anyone with sensitive skin like this? If so what do they use? Also any thoughts on where I can get Shea Butter? Origins only had Shea Butter with some kind of extract in it, so their sales person said not to even try it.

I buy Corn Huskers lotion from cvs. It's amazing. I get very dry hands in the winter. It doesn't burn.

My son uses the Aquaphor and we love it. I would ask the pediatrician for a recommendation. You could also try just plain old vaseline.

L'occitanehas shea butter but it is only about 10-20 percent shea
and the one at caswell and massey is 98.5 percent shea see here
and then they have a tin of 100% shea butter see here

Also try TJ Maxx and Marshalls-they often have European products and I know I've seen 100% shea butter. If you want Bath and Body online has it I gave it to my sister for X-mas

You should be able to get it in Genovese/Eckerd, too. CVS carries it made by Palmers, but I think Queen Helene also has it. Not sure if it is 100%, though. Otherwise, I have seen that at The Body Shop.

Re: Help!100% Shea Butter?
Try Best of Nature for the pure Shea Butter. It's surely best (no fragrance or added chemicals).
Here, I just found the direct link: Shea Butter
This is a reputable website, I have been ordering from them for years.

Re: Help!100% Shea Butter?
Aquaphor is great, also try Cetaphil cream (in the green tube). You can get 100% shea butter (in a tin) from L'Occitane. Sephora carries it, also there is a L'Occitane store in the Walt Whitman mall.

Re: Help!100% Shea Butter?
Thanks for everyone who responded. I'm going to hunt down some on Monday. I think it was mainly from the dough he was working with to make Christmas ornaments since we've never had this problem before.
I really appreciate all of your help!

Re: Help!100% Shea Butter?
I have this same problem -- only started in the last few years. My doctor recommended bacitracin (sp?) ointment while my hands are cracked and bleeding -- the petroleum jelly is good for moisture and the antibiotic is good for the open wounds to ward off infection -- I have had those cuts get infected and it is not pretty.
Don't use anything with fragrance while the cuts are open -- it hurts like crazy and can cause infection.
After the cuts close, regular vaseline will definitely do the trick.
Good luck.

Just don't use the bacitracin if the cuts are deep. If you do, you run the risk of the outside skin closing before the inside, which can cause an infection underneath, in the skin that hasn't yet healed.
