Female Dog Owners
Tanaholic and I are bringing out puppies to be spayed tomorrow. I was just wondering how they are after the procedure? My Vet recommends that Molly stays there overnight - but there is no nurse on duty so I am picking her up. Has anyone had to keep them overnight or have you all gotten them the same day?
How do they act after and how long until they are themselves again?

Re: Female Dog Owners
Casey stayed overnight. We picked her up the next morning and she was sooooooo shaky. I felt so bad for her. She basically slept all day and by the night time she was almost back to normal. The next day we was back to her usual self.

Was there anyone with Casey? Am I being a nut that I am picking her up when the doctor recommends that she stay over?
Tanaholic has to pick Lola up the same day so that's why I thought it was ok for me to do the same.

Re: Female Dog Owners
Katie's apointment is on 5/1. We will drop her off at 8:30 and pick her up at 5:15. We got Annie from the shelter and she was spayed early in the morning and we picked her up a few hours later. They never said anything about keeping them over night. If there is no nurse on duty I def. wouldn't keep her there overnight- just in case.
How much does it cost for Molly? They said Katie will be about $275

If no one will be at the vets office to watch her then i think THE VET is being a nut by saying she should stay there.

Re: Female Dog Owners
Diana--when my parents got there dogs spayed (3girls) they were able to pick them up the same day, they were all VERY tired and sleeped most of the day. I think they were a little out of it for like 2 or 3 days, then they were back to normal running around again. Dont worry Molly will be fine!

Yea - they said around 250 for Molly. I'll let you know the final total when I pick her up tomorrow.
Thanks guys - at least I don't feel like a crazy person bc I don't want to keep her there overnight alone.

Yes - there was, they had a bunch of dogs in there that night too. Honestly, if someone is not going to be there, I would insist that you pick her up The reason someone is supposed to be there, is to make sure they are not vomiting and that they are going to the bathroom. She will mostly likely not be feed, cause that would make them vomit, but someone should be there.

Re: Female Dog Owners
They all stayed over night. Males & females. The pups stay overnight so that they will not jump or run or do anything that might open the stitches up. Also they are completely wiped out from the antesthesia.

How are the girls doing?
Lola is doing good, thanks for asking!
They put a cone on her head though and she has to wear it for 2 weeks!! I feel so bad. She looks at me like...why would you do this to me? But other then that she seems to be herself. They just told me to watch the stiches and make sure they don't open up, which I am paranoid about!Image Attachment(s):
