bday gift advice

Can you please give me an honest opinion..

On friday I am going out to dinner with my boyfriend, his brother, sil, mom, and dad.. [

Background info:
I have gone out to dinner with them a few times, and they are very nice to me) His brother and sil are very sweet and on my bday (which is New years eve) we went there to hangout and they had a cake for my bday...

so the dinner on friday is to celebrate my boyfriends, brothers 29th bday.. We are all meeting at Carmines in the city...

Now my question is do I bring him a gift? or Nothing at all?

I really DONT wanna do wine b/c its going to a restaurant and I gave my bf's dads wine on his bday..

I was just thinking of bringing a bday card and putting a bunch of lotto tickets in it..

Is it worth doing this? Does it look tacky? Should I bring an actual gift or just dont bring anything since its just a dinner out to celebrate with close family..

Im very confused and running out of days to decide..

ETA: my boyfriend and his brother dont exchange bday gifts..

what is your bf getting him? could you both go half on the gift and do a joint gift?

I'd get a Gift Certificate and buy a Birthday card. On the card, I'll write that the little something (present) is from both of you.

If your bf doesn't exchange, I wouldn't start. A card from the two of you would be fine.

Re: bday gift advice

I guess just a card since they don't exchange. You don't want to interfere. Putting a few lotto tickets in it wouldn't be a bad idea though. Just a little something.

It's a tough situation since your BF and his brother do not exchange gifts - and I know you, since his bro and SIL were nice to you for your b'day, you want to reciprocate somehow. But you don't want to go overboard either.. so I'd stick with a card and some scratch offs. And you will be there at the b'day dinner so that is more than enough

Even now that we are married, DH doesn't exchange with his siblings for xmas or bdays, so even though I felt odd buying for my sib. and not his, he said he wanted to do as they have always done. If it was my choice I'd probably do little stuff, but it's always easier to follow tradition and not step on any toes.

Re: bday gift advice

Maybe you could get him a GC for 2 at the movies! That's inexpensive. But I think the lotto tickets are also enough

Re: bday gift advice

I would give scratchoffs, everbody likes getting them without the awkwardness of it being a real gift.
