The body that washed ashore at Jacob Riis Park Thursday is that of Trevon Gidding.
The 18-year-old disappeared Sunday afternoon in the Atlantic Ocean side of Rockaway Beach.
NYPD, Coast Guard, and U.S. parks officials searched extensively for Gidding from the moment he vanished. Gidding, who could not swim, had been spending the day with his family at the beach. Police suspect he was pulled under by the current.
The cause of death could be confirmed as early as Friday.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Paul Zaccaria, who disappeared in Mill Basin in Brooklyn last week, is still missing.
Police say he was riding a jet ski, without a life jacket, when another jet ski hit him from behind.
