i hate being a working mom
this post is just me looking for someones shoulder to cry on. i started back to work full time last wed and i hate it. i have panic attacks when i get to work and have this nagging feeling in my stomach all day. i miss my son so much it hurts. granted i work 5 mins from home and come home at lunch but by the time i get home at night its after 5 and the night flies by and he is in bed. i have been home for 11 months with him and am grateful for that but this is the hardest thing i have ever done.... thanks for listening

Jenn I know the feeling! I went back to work today DH is took the week off today so the transistion will be easier but next week when she goes to daycare I will be dying (even though she will only be in there for 4 hours every day) I have so many emotions about it, I truly understand how you feel

It's hard to do but hang in there. Eventually you do get a little use to it. And the nice thing about it is you really appreciate the time that you do get to spend with them because you now understand how precious it is.

I do want to get a job closer to home but its hard to find. I know what its l ike to get home at nite and not having that much time to spend with your child cuz I get home cook dinner feed my daughter I spend a few hours with her then put her to bed. Re: i hate being a working mom
I feel for you and am suffering right along with you! I went back to work FT when Andrew was 11 weeks old. And since I moved out to LI, my commute is 3 hours round trip, so I'm away from him even longer.
It is awful and sad, but my job keeps me very busy that my days go by pretty quickly. I have a zillion pictures of him all over my cubicle.
I've been trying to find a job close to home, but haven't had any luck yet.
I hope it gets easier for you!

Re: i hate being a working mom
It's not so much the time away for the purpose of work that gets to me, but it's ANY time I spend away from her that is considered "free" i.e. non working hours. Even if I'm house cleaning, I'm wracked with guilt because I know that I should be spending that time with her, since I'm away from her so many hours. It really, really sux!

Re: i hate being a working mom
I went back last Thursday. I was off for the summer. Last night I cried and cried to my dh. I am just soooo sad about leaving her too. She is a year now, I know she'll be fine. It is soooo me. I just miss her sooo much. My heart just aches.

Thanks, The hardest thing I have ever done is go back to work. I understand how all the mommies are feeling. We are all hear for each other. I always feel so supported on this board. Venting always helps Jen. It is a tough transition!

Re: i hate being a working mom
Yesterday was my first day back and I was Okay with it. I wasn't bad. When I got home she seemed like she was soooooo mad at me for being gone. That made me feel so awful and filled with guilt. Today she was much happier to see me but still for some reason today was soooooooooooo much worse leaving her. I guess I know that she will be starting daycare next week at this time and my heart is breaking about it!

My husband knows he is last on the food chain. After the baby, jobs, pets and house he MIGHT get some attention. He's not always thrilled with that scenario but that is life. The life we both created for ourselves so no sense complaining about it. Thankfully he's independant to a degree and finds things to occupy his time with when I'm not available.
